Worked Examples

1. Need an A in the course

Given: Current: 85%, Target: 90%, Final weight: 30%

Required = (90 - 85 x 0.70) / 0.30

Required = (90 - 59.5) / 0.30

Required = 30.5 / 0.30 = 101.7%

Result: 101.7% (nearly impossible without extra credit)

2. Maintaining a B

Given: Current: 82%, Target: 80%, Final weight: 25%

Required = (80 - 82 x 0.75) / 0.25

Required = (80 - 61.5) / 0.25 = 74%
